if you want to build a ship

A photo from last New Year’s Day. A quote recently discovered. The quote’s attribution is disputed, but I love it so much that I’ll take it anyway. It’s a lovely analogy for the way I hope to parent, and what this wonderfarm is all about. A thought to carry into the new year.

Happy 2011, cherished readers.

But I’m so good at giving orders!

Ah, yes, I’m quite excellent at giving orders myself.

Thank you for all your thoughtful comments of the past year, Peaches!

“Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.”

Oh I love this…a lovely analogy for parenting. Thanks for this and for all the inspiration all year long. Happy 2011. xo

The quote is great. I’m noticing the photo though too. T’s colors blend in well with the beach and background. What a nice shot from last year.
    Prosperos Ano Nuevo!

It was a foggy day at the beach, which made for great photos. And sometimes the kids’ clothes serendipitously match the scenery!

Happy new year to you too, Kristin!

I love this quote so much! I have many similar ocean pictures with my kids; I think I will hang this quote near one of them as a reminder. Thank you! I am new to your blog and really enjoy it. Your style of un/home schooling is similar to my ideal. I look forward to reading more in the new year.
